Grade 1/2 Illustrator visit- Craig Smith

On Tuesday the 12th of May we had the famous Illustrator Craig Smith visit us.  He drew for us some awesome drawings of characters from some of his books.  He talked to us about how a book is made and we got to do some of our own drawings.  His message for us is to practice and practice our drawings and to “draw, rub out, draw, rub out”.  We got to keep the drawings he did for us and he said the children at Noble Park Primary School were “sensational”.  Here are some of our comments:

I took a digital photo of Craig that he might put on his new website.  Amandeep

 Term 4 – Organisation

In Grade 1/2L we have been thinking about ways we can be organised in our classroom.  We made a checklist and our top three were:

     1.     Clean desk.

2.     Remember reader.

3.     Pack up quickly.

We stuck this list on our tables and each day we ticked which ones we completed.  Here are some of our thoughts about our checklists:

Parisa- the checklist helped remind me to bring my reader.

Berk- it kept me organised.

Eric- it was a really useful checklist for me.

Fiona- I used it to always try and pack up quickly.

Beatrice- I saw people use shopping lists in Safeway.

Dean- checklists help you to remember things.

Melody- this checklist helped me to be organised at school.

Anthony- I have got better at being organised.

Grade 1/ 2’s visit the Theiss Recycling Facility

The Grade 1 & 2 children went to the Theiss Recycling Facility to see how our recyclable materials are sorted, so that they can be used again. We saw mountains of paper and plastic. We saw a truck empty its load onto the floor. It was then scooped up and placed on a conveyer belt, to be separated into paper, plastics and metals. Christine told us about the right materials to put in the recycling bins and what not to put in the bins. Because we could answer so many questions, she gave all the children a pen and three little mini bins.

I liked it when Miss. Locantio got to sit in the fire truck's driver seat and learning how to stop, drop and roll.  Dean.

We are lucky because the fire station is near our school in case there is a fire.  Rob talked to us about firefighters and how they rescue people if they have a fire in their houses.  Parisa.
