Noble Park Primary School is committed to improving outcomes in mathematics by creating a learning environment that provides relevant, authentic and differentiated learning opportunities for all students. Students from Foundation to Year 6 engage in mathematics lessons for at least 5 hours a week. During this time mathematics skills are explicitly taught during structured lessons which include tuning in activities and small group instruction.
The Mathematics curriculum is organised by the three strands of Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Each strand is organised by sub-strands. Sub-strands ground content descriptions under an appropriate concept, to provide both a focus and a clear sequence for the development of related concepts and skills within strands and across levels.
The proficiencies of Understanding, Fluency, Problem Solving and Reasoning are fundamental to learning mathematics and working mathematically and are applied across all three strands Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability.
Set a Routine: Incorporate Mathseeds or Mathletics into your child’s daily or weekly routine. 10-15 minutes a day can make a significant difference to their mathematics understanding.
Monitor Progress: Both platforms allow parents and carers to view progress and achievements. Celebrate your child's milestones such as completing lessons, earning certificates, or improving scores in practice exercises.
Explore Fun Activities: Encourage your child to take part in the variety of interactive games, challenges, and quizzes. The content is designed to be both educational and fun, so your child stays engaged while learning.
